HMI - pre-study: updating and simplifying control interfaces with the goal of creating a unified design system

Undisclosed Client

To investigate and explore the opportunities for updating and unifying the HMI design of the product portfolio of gas generators, which were using antiquated patterns and UI.

Description

I lead a team for a pre-study project investigating professional control interfaces of gas generator equipment. As a team we facilitated an internal workshop and gathered valuable insights about the current solution and portfolio, based on which we could proceed with developing a concept and further product development strategy. The main assumptions included simplifying the user experience, making the navigation more intuitive and the design readable and inclusive. The client was given a final summary report, which included two different visual directions and a prototype of the solution, supported by a range of recommendations for further design development.
