Japanese decorative streamers called koinobori are displayed on flagpoles next to their homes from April to early May until the 5th of May, which marks the Day of Children.
During this workshop we would be making a nordic version of this decoration, with a focus on a more local, ancient fish: the baltic cod. The workshop uses pre-cut linoblocks to print the different layers of the decorative cod onto paper. Participants will be guided through each stage of making their on ‘Codnobori’ and will leave the workshop with their own hand-made colourful, block-printed decorative fish.
Over the course of the creative workshop, participants will also learn more about the plight of the baltic cod: a species that faces a precarious ecological future.
